Good advice [July 31, 2007]
Do not be too keen to ask questions of the Void Outside...
Lest it answers them for you.

On Wage slavery...

"The slave was precious to his master because of the money he had cost him... Men’s blood had some price in the days of slavery. They were worth at least as much as they could be sold for in the market...It is the impossibility of living by any other means that compels our farm labourers to till the soil whose fruits they will not eat, and our masons to construct buildings in which they will not live. It is want that drags them to those markets where they await masters who will do them the kindness of buying them. It is want that compels them to go down on their knees to the rich man in order to get from him permission to enrich him... what effective gain [has] the suppression of slavery brought [him ?] He is free, you say. Ah! That is his misfortune... These men, it is said, have no master—they have one, and the most terrible, the most imperious of masters, that is, need. It is this that reduces them to the most cruel dependence. They live only by hiring out their arms. They must therefore find someone to hire them, or die of hunger. Is that to be free?"
- Simon Linguet 1763.

Stupid, stupid... [November 07, 2006]
[ mood | irritated ]

I heard yesterday that my best friend has unfortunately been forced to end her long term relationship with her BF. She's understandably upset at the moment, which i think is terrible.
For one thing my friend is absolutely stunning, intelligent, kind - all the the things you could possibly ask for in a GF. I mean she's probably one of the best at her job in the entire of the Uk.
And what does darling BF go and do... yes, he goes and chucks it all away. And remember this was a long term thing, 3 years i believe in duration, and my friend had invested alot of herself into the relationship. My friend is a slightly guarded creature when it comes to her deepest feelings, you know the type, which doesn't like to wear their heart on their sleeve - unlike yours truely. Hence if she gets serious over someone, its a big thing for her. So she's probably feeling very low, and is far away from her friends and family.
As for the BF, i have no sympathy really. I know that sounds unfair, but hey my friend is not hard to get on with, and a million people would just kill to be her BF. And he just goes and does things that eventually bugger up a great relationship. Errm hello!??? are you really that stupid? I just hope i don't see him ever again or he may just get a piece of my mind!!
So yeah, that annoyed me. people just don't appreciate how fortunate they are.
Byes for now all.

Lynn's Back!! [July 13, 2006]
[ mood | chipper ]

Good news citizens!

My very good friend, Ms Lynn Kamerlin will be returning to Birmingham for a brief visit next week! Personally this is fabulous news since Lynn is a very dear friend and I have not seen her in ages... she went off to work in Vienna, no doubt more complex organic chemistry and the like.
I believe we shall be having dinner at Chez jules, followed by drinks at bacchus, will her and a few of her other friends.
So very much looking forward to that! *big grin*

Greetings and salutations to you all, and welcome to the first and most auspicous entry in my new LJ! What fortunate citizen of the world you are to be reading this...errr... thing-a-ma-jig. In here you will hopefully find all the answers to all the questions you ever wanted to know about be - but couldn't be bothered to ask ;)! Ok, well this particular entry is not really anything more than a news update on my life. I had planned to write a big opening entry on the recent events in my life and the world (ex's, university work, friends, politics etc) but i shall save that till another day I think. Plus i'm tired... and lazy.
